BasiGo is excited to announce the promotion of Mr. Moses Nderitu to the position of Managing Director for its Kenyan operations. Formerly BasiGo’s Chief Revenue Officer since March 2022, Mr. Nderitu will now spearhead the company’s business in Kenya.
With a proven track record as an advocate for electric mobility in Kenya, both in government and the private sector, Mr. Nderitu played a crucial role as Chief Commercial Officer in introducing E-bus technology to the Kenyan matatu sector. Under his leadership, BasiGo secured over 450 reservations from Nairobi bus operators. Additionally, he contributed significantly to the establishment of the Electric Mobility Association of Kenya (EMAK), advocating for policies to drive the e-mobility industry in Kenya.
Jit Bhattacharya, CEO and Co-founder of BasiGo, expressed confidence in Mr. Nderitu, stating, “BasiGo is privileged to have Moses Nderitu, an exceptional entrepreneur and leader, taking the helm of BasiGo Kenya. With over 90% of Kenya’s electricity coming from renewable energy, Kenya has the potential to be a global leader in clean, affordable, and smart public transport. I can think of no one better to make that vision a reality than Moses Nderitu.”
In his new role, Mr. Nderitu will lead BasiGo’s Kenya business, steering the company’s mission to deploy 1,000 locally-assembled electric buses to Nairobi bus operators by 2026 through its innovative Pay-As-You-Drive financing platform. Currently, BasiGo has 19 electric buses in operation with six Nairobi bus operators.
Before joining BasiGo, Mr. Nderitu held the position of Director and Regulatory Advisor at ARC Ride and served as a Board Member and Vice Chair at the National Transport and Safety Authority for six years. He is an alumnus of Strathmore Business School, Kenya, and brings a wealth of experience as a serial entrepreneur.
