Just days after it dropped three new Originals in Kenya, Showmax has completed the integration of M-PESA onto its recently relaunched platform. This means that customers will be able to pay for their subscriptions using the mobile money service – and this is important owing to the platform’s (M-PESA) popularity in Kenya.
Having completed the migration of its customers and content onto the Peacock platform in February, the Showmax team has continued to work to ensure that its customers find it effortless to afford and access the stories they love.
Just a few weeks ago, paying for the service was only possible via a card.
For Joe Heshu, Showmax Chief Operating Officer, the M-PESA integration has been a key priority for the brand whose goal is to be the No 1 streamer in Africa.
“We want our customers to have a great streaming experience and that means delivering content, payment methods, and features that enable this. We’ve worked with our long-time partners at Safaricom to ensure that the process of bringing M-Pesa onto the platform was managed, tested, and rolled out to customers as quickly as possible.”
“Our goal is to provide Kenyans freedom, choice and control over the content they consume. By integrating M-Pesa to Showmax, we are empowering our customers to enjoy their favourite shows with ease and convenience,” said Peter Ndegwa, CEO Safaricom PLC.
