CANAL+ and its subsidiary SuperSport will jointly broadcast the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025, covering English, French, Portuguese and several African languages. The agreement with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) makes CANAL+ the first global broadcaster to deliver the tournament in such a wide language mix.
The deal gives SuperSport rights for English and Portuguese-speaking Sub-Saharan Africa, while CANAL+ will serve French-speaking markets. The coverage will be available on DStv, GOtv, CANAL+ Sport, and the CANAL+ app.
CANAL+ Africa CEO David Mignot said the partnership with MultiChoice is already paying off through shared resources and wider reach. “Broadcasting this competition in different languages is a strong way to build closeness with our viewers,” he said.
CAF President Patrice Motsepe welcomed the deal, saying it would expand the tournament’s global reach. The last AFCON, held in Côte d’Ivoire, attracted about 1.5 billion viewers. CAF expects the Morocco edition to reach even more.
MultiChoice’s Rendani Ramovha said SuperSport will dedicate a full-time AFCON channel for the event. Viewers in Nigeria can choose between English and Pidgin, East Africans can watch in Swahili, while South Africans will have commentary in isiZulu and Setswana.
The tournament begins on 21 December 2025, with top African players such as Mohamed Salah, Victor Osimhen, Sadio Mané, Riyad Mahrez and Achraf Hakimi expected to headline the event.
