Safaricom has adjusted its service costs after the suspension of the Finance Act 2023. The new changes, effective from 29th July 2023, reflect an increase in excise duty on mobile money transfer services from 12% to 15%. This means that M-PESA charges have increased by 3%, while charges for SMS, data, home fibre, and calls have reduced by 5%. The adjustments were made following the enactment of the Finance Act 2023 and a Court of Appeal ruling on 28th July 2023.
