Bigstore.africa, a new eCommerce marketplace in Kenya and soon in Uganda, Rwanda, among other markets, is seeking to transform online shopping in Africa. It has announced the completion of an undisclosed angel funding round. Per a statement from the company, it looks forward to being the “Uber Eats” of retail consumer products.
This angel funding round was led by investors from Kenya, Africa, and the USA, highlighting the potential of eCommerce in the Kenyan and African markets. The capital raised will be used to enhance the platform, optimize the user experience, and expand the merchant and customer base.
Bigstore.africa allows customers to buy from various merchants through its mobile and web applications. It offers a marketplace connecting customers with diverse merchants and sellers across categories such as electronics, home appliances, fashion, and more. Customers can browse, compare prices, and make purchases without visiting each store’s website.
By adopting a marketplace model, Bigstore aims to empower merchants to reach more customers and fulfill orders directly. So far, it has onboarded trusted merchants and partnered with logistics and fulfillment providers for deliveries.
Leveraging technology, Bigstore says it will streamline the shopping process and ensure the authenticity of listed products and customer security. Its goal is to connect customers directly to trusted merchants.
With the angel investment, Bigstore plans to forge partnerships, attract a customer base, and become a player in Africa’s eCommerce landscape. Through innovation and a customer-centric approach, Bigstore aims to redefine online shopping in Kenya, Africa, and beyond.

Mr. Ongere H.M, the CTO and co-founder at Bigstore said: “Our goal is to bring back trust in e-commerce in Kenya by connecting customers across Kenya directly to trusted merchants on our platform. We’ve experienced and seen how people are conned when buying online or receive counterfeit and fake products from dubious sellers and many cases of variations of WHAT YOU ORDER vs WHAT is DELIVERED with other platforms currently in the market.”
