Why the Redesigned Nissan Terra is a midsize SUV with enhanced comfort and performance

Nissan Terra has emerged as a formidable contender in the midsize SUV segment, boasting impressive upgrades both inside and out.

Nissan’s midsize SUV, the Nissan Terra, entered the Kenyan market in 2022, building on its solid reputation in the midsize SUV segment. Sharing its platform with the Navara, the Terra offers a comfortable and smooth ride, thanks to its rear multi-link suspension setup. The updated 2022 model comes with substantial upgrades both inside and out, continuing to feature the Nissan Intelligent Mobility.

        Platform, chassis, and powertrain

The Nissan Terra maintains its D23 platform, ensuring a smooth ride with its multi-link suspension. It boasts a 2.5-liter YD25 inline four-cylinder diesel engine with a turbocharger, delivering 187 hp and 450 Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 7-speed automatic and a 6-speed manual (EL variant only). The vehicle is available in both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations.

        Driving performance

With fully independent suspension, a potent diesel engine, and responsive steering, the Terra offers impressive driving dynamics for a midsize SUV. It even offers a 4×4 system for off-road capabilities, although some body roll and heavy steering should be expected.

        Technology features

The Terra comes equipped with either a 9-inch or 8-inch infotainment system, offering access to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Wireless Apple CarPlay is available for VL variants. Additionally, a BOSE premium 8-speaker sound system is offered for VL 4×4 AT models, while other models feature a 6-speaker sound system.

        Exterior

The 2022 Terra boasts a refreshed exterior design, featuring a new V-Motion grille, quad-LED headlights, and a redesigned front bumper with LED fog lamps. Subtle changes include a faux air intake on the front quarter panel and new alloy wheel options.

        Interior

Inside, the Terra receives significant improvements, including a new dashboard with finer materials. Leather upholstery is available for higher trims, along with a black and red interior color combo. Cabin space is ample, particularly for front and middle-row passengers. The third-row is suitable for small adults and children, with storage cubby holes on each row and impressive cargo space due to flat-folding seats.

        Safety

The Terra prioritizes safety with the Nissan Intelligent Mobility system, offering features like an around-view monitor, forward collision warning, intelligent emergency braking, lane departure warning, and more. It also includes a tire pressure monitoring system and airbags, with six airbags in total, including side and curtain shield airbags.
