OPPO has launched a KES 20,000 phone in the Kenyan market. Named the A18, the phone was announced in September 2023 and features a slim and lightweight design, as per a statement by the Chinese phone maker. It tips the scales at 188g. It offers 4G coverage (no 5G) with dual SIM functionality and an IP54 rating for dust and splash resistance, which is a rare find for a KES 20,000 device.
The OPPO A18 has a 6.56-inch IPS LCD display with a 90Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 720 nits, which is fairly bright. It runs Android 13 and ColorOS 13.1 on top. Under the hood is a Mediatek MT6769 Helio G85 chipset and comes in two storage configurations: 64GB with 4GB RAM or 128GB with 4GB RAM. However, Kenyans will get the 4/128 GB variant.
The camera setup includes an 8 MP wide lens and a 2 MP depth sensor, along with a 5 MP front camera. Additional features include a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, various sensors, a 5000 mAh non-removable battery, and it’s available in Glowing Black and Glowing Blue colours.
The A18 joins its pricier siblings that were launched earlier: the A38, A58 and the A78. The A98 is yet to make an appearance in the Kenyan market.
The OPPO A18 will be available at a recommended retail price of 20,000 across all OPPO stores countrywide and E-commerce platforms.
