A few days ago, OPPO Kenya announced it had plans in the pipeline to launch the new A-series line of phones. The day is finally here, as the BBK-affiliated phone maker has introduced the A78, which will be going for KES 35,000.
The phone is interesting in this segment because this is the first time that the A-series has received notable upgrades. For instance, the A78, whose screen measures 6.4”, has a speedier refresh rate at 90 Hz. It also brings stereo speakers to the stable, something we experienced first with the Reno10 series. These two key features are actually useful and showcase that the A series has actually grown and will continue to be more interesting with future iterations.
Here are the rest of its specifications:

OPPO says that it plans to bring the A58 and the A98 into the market soon, but customers can go ahead and enjoy the A78 for the moment. The cause for the delay has not been revealed, but groups wanting the two devices can always pick them up from third-party retailers, as they are already on their store shelves.
It would be interesting to see how OPPO plans to position its devices against other rivals, such as a number of Redmis that go for nearly the same price range and Samsung’s A-series. Nokia also has interesting rivals in the same ballpark.
We are looking forward to getting a unit for assessment, and whenever that happens, you will be the first to know.
