Bolt announces driver reward scheme to boost safety

Bolt’s initiative aims to elevate service quality, rebuild trust among passengers, and demonstrate appreciation for the invaluable contributions of its drivers.

Bolt, Africa’s leading on-demand transport platform, has introduced an innovative Driver Reward Scheme aimed at bolstering driver engagement and empowering the driver community. In addition to this groundbreaking initiative, Bolt is also reinforcing safety measures by implementing driver alerts for potentially unsafe areas within the app.

Driver recognition and safety enhancement

The newly unveiled Driver Reward Scheme underscores Bolt’s commitment to acknowledging and celebrating the exceptional contributions of its dedicated drivers. Simultaneously, the company is taking significant strides to ensure the safety of its drivers and passengers with the introduction of driver safety alerts.

Drive for a prize campaign

As part of this reward scheme, Bolt has launched the ‘Drive for a Prize’ campaign, which commenced in early August. This campaign allows Bolt drivers and boda boda riders to accumulate points based on various criteria, including hours spent online, accepted and completed trips, and high driver scores. Over the coming months, approximately 400 drivers and riders are expected to be rewarded through this campaign.

Rewarding excellence

During a recent event at the Driver Engagement Centre in Westlands, Bolt awarded 138 drivers and riders. Prizes included Smart TVs, smartphones, shopping vouchers, and fuel vouchers. Speaking at the event, Linda Ndung’u, Country Manager at Bolt, emphasized the company’s recognition of the pivotal role drivers play in their success and how the new Driver Reward Scheme reflects this acknowledgment.

Key highlights of the driver engagement reward scheme

  • Monthly and quarterly rewards: Exceptional drivers will have the opportunity to earn monthly and quarterly rewards and exclusive benefits, such as fuel vouchers, phones, shopping vouchers, and home appliances.
  • Community building: Bolt will organize driver meetups, family fun days, and sporting events to foster a sense of community among its drivers, providing them with opportunities to connect and share experiences.

Enhancing driver safety

To further enhance safety for all platform users, Bolt has introduced driver safety alerts. This feature provides drivers with in-app alerts containing additional trip information, including areas deemed potentially unsafe due to reported driver and rider safety concerns. Drivers can now make informed decisions and choose to decline optional trips without impacting their driver scores.

Bolt’s commitment to quality and safety

Bolt’s latest initiatives aim to elevate the overall quality of service while rebuilding trust and confidence among passengers. These efforts solidify Bolt’s position as an industry leader, demonstrating its appreciation for the invaluable contributions of its drivers and its unwavering commitment to safety.
