Cybersecurity firm Sophos has been named a Leader in the IDC MarketScape: European Managed Detection and Response (MDR) Services in 2024 Vendor Assessment.
The report assesses the product offerings and business strategies of MDR vendors. Additionally, Sophos has been recognized as a Leader in three global IDC MarketScape 2024 reports:
- IDC MarketScape: Worldwide Modern Endpoint Security for Midsize Businesses 2024 Vendor Assessment.
- IDC MarketScape: Worldwide Modern Endpoint Security for Small Businesses 2024 Vendor Assessment.
- IDC MarketScape: Worldwide Managed Detection and Response (MDR) 2024 Vendor Assessment.
Sophos serves over 23,000 MDR customers globally, including over 5,000 in Europe. This large customer base contributes to a repository of real-time intelligence that supports its cybersecurity and threat intelligence operations, enabling continuous monitoring and response to threats.
The IDC MarketScape for Worldwide MDR Services states that “Sophos MDR has expanded its detection capabilities beyond their own products. Data is collected from third-party sources across multiple domains, such as endpoint, firewall, cloud, and identity.”
Sophos’ MDR service integrates telemetry from third-party technologies and its products, which enhances its detection and response capabilities. This approach detects and mitigates threats regardless of customers’ existing security infrastructure.
With a significant share of its MDR customers in organizations with up to 999 employees, Sophos has a strong position in the mid-market segment. According to Richard Thurston, research manager at IDC, “Sophos has built its MDR business on the foundation of experienced security analysts and a strong technology platform.”
Sophos’ managed security services and solutions include Sophos MDR, Sophos Intercept X, Sophos XDR, and Sophos Firewall. These solutions are part of the Sophos Adaptive Cybersecurity Ecosystem, sharing real-time threat intelligence and enabling integrated protection, detection, and response. They are managed through the cloud-based Sophos Central platform, which provides a single interface for overseeing installations, responding to alerts, and tracking license renewals.
