In April this year, Safaricom launched myCounty, a platform that enables all 47 counties to digitize all their services in one place, providing a single citizen access channel.
The platform features payment for county services, revenue management systems, a citizen reporting and engagement tool, and solutions around agriculture, health, utility bills, and SME programs. At first, the app was launched for Makueni County but has since expanded to other counties.
Safaricom has further made that availability bigger after launching the platform in Kitui County.
Per a statement from Safaricom, over 400,000 users are accessing county services through MyCounty app in the 11 counties currently onboarded. These include Nairobi, Makueni, Kitui, Busia, Samburu, Bomet, Narok, Kilifi, Uasin Gishu, Kajiado and Elgeyo Marakwet.
Safaricom targets to roll out the MyCounty App platform to all 47 counties in Kenya while incorporating the unique elements specific to each county.
The App is accessible on different channels, including a mini-App on the M-PESA Super App, Android App, iOS, Web, and USSD short code.
