M-PESA GO unveils financial literacy toolkit for junior learners

M-PESA GO—M-PESA platform for juniors, but with restrictions—insurer Old Mutual and the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD)  have launched an online financial literacy toolkit for junior and senior students. This follows the launch of a teacher training platform in June aimed at equipping educators with financial knowledge.

The toolkit includes interactive sessions and gamified experiences to engage students directly with financial experts. Safaricom’s Esther Waititu mentioned the importance of financial literacy for Kenya’s youthful population and showcased its role in fostering financial stability and enabling sound financial decisions from an early age.

Arthur Oginga, Old Mutual’s Group CEO, stressed the need for financial education to build resilience and avoid future instability. He noted the partnership between Old Mutual and Safaricom leverages their strengths to deliver impactful solutions for communities.

The toolkit, designed to integrate into existing curricula, is available for download on the M-PESA Go and Old Mutual websites.
