Kenya Railways has implemented its price changes for the rear 2024, with significant hikes in fares across its service packages. The costs increased for the Madaraka Express Passenger Service, Madaraka Express Commuter Service, Nairobi Commuter Railway Service, Kisumu Safari Train and Nanyuki Safari Train.
How the new charges apply
- From Athi River to Mombasa – Sh1,430
- Emali to Mombasa – Sh1,100.
- Kibwezi to Mombasa will cost Sh890
- Voi to Mombasa tickets are at Sh440.
- Mtito Andei to Mombasa costs Sh750
- Miasenyi to Mombasa is Sh290
- Mariakani to Mombasa is Sh110.
The Standard Gauge Railway train service keeps moving many people to the coastal area. Many like it more than road transport. Many people use the SGR because it takes about six hours to get to Mombasa.
Kids under three years old don’t have to pay for train rides, while those aged 3-11 only pay half the cost adults do on economy and first-class tickets.
