KCB is now ranked the 7th strongest banking brand globally, posting a Brand Strength Index (BSI) score of 94.4%, up from 91.5% in 2024.

The bank also climbed 30 spots to position 343 in Brand Finance’s Banking 500 2025 Report. This jump signals the growing influence of African banks on the global stage as they navigate economic and geopolitical challenges.

It also matters because it shows how Kenyan and African lenders are building global recognition and creating value despite regional risks.

The report shows African banking brands generated $15.2 billion in value in 2025, growing 22% on average. Kenya recorded the strongest growth at 49%, followed by South Africa (24%), Morocco (21%), Nigeria (16%) and Egypt (8%).

Still, no African bank has broken into the top 100 ranking. Weak currencies and economic risks continue to limit progress.

Globally, banks are benefitting from higher interest rates and financial market recovery. In Africa, lenders are riding on customer loyalty, digital banking, and mobile platforms to grow their brands and expand.
