CitiBank awarded the best bank at the 2024 Think Business Banking Awards

Mr. Kariuki Ngugi, CEO of Standard Chartered Bank, was named CEO of the Year, and Lucy Kagia received the Outstanding Young Banker award.

Citibank has emerged as the top bank in Kenya at the Think Business Banking Awards 2024. It also won awards in Internet banking, corporate banking, and product innovation.

Other winners are:

  • I&M Group PLC – Best Customer-Centric Bank
  • HFC – Excellence in Mortgage Finance
  • Equity Bank – Leadership in Trade Finance and Retail Banking
  • KCB – Best Bank in Digital Banking

A Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Mr. Richard Etemesi, Chairman of Standard Chartered Bank, for his long and distinguished career.

Mr. Kariuki Ngugi, CEO of Standard Chartered Bank, was named CEO of the Year, and Lucy Kagia received the Outstanding Young Banker award.

The awards focused on “Making The Transition Towards Green Banking,” highlighting the importance of ethical practices, environmental protection, and social responsibility. The goal is to encourage banks to adopt sustainable practices that benefit the environment.

Mr. Ochieng Oloo, Founder and CEO of Think Business, discussed the importance of green banking, including financing sustainable projects and reducing carbon footprints through online and paperless transactions. He also mentioned the success of innovative green finance products and urged traditional banks to adapt to new opportunities.

Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the Think Business Banking Awards aim to promote long-term sustainability, ethics, and environmental responsibility in the banking sector.
