In what can be seen as a move to quell driver complaints over pricing, Bolt Kenya has increased base fares by 10% across all ride categories. Uber did the same thing last week by bumping up fares by 15%.
The company said the decision “reflects Bolt’s commitment to fair compensation and improved working conditions for its driver-partners.”
After extensive dialogue with drivers and regulators, Bolt said it recognized the need for a fare adjustment to address rising operational costs and ensure sustainable earnings for its drivers.
The increased fares will directly impact driver earnings, incentivizing them to maintain high service standards while providing safe and reliable transportation to riders.
Bolt has always prioritized the well-being of its driver-partners, the company claimed in a statement.
In addition to the fare increase, the company has implemented various initiatives to support drivers, such as driver rewards, compliments features, and engagement forums.
