Bake awards 2025 open submissions as focus widens beyond blogging

The Bloggers Association of Kenya (BAKE) has opened submissions for the 2025 BAKE Awards, which will run until October 8. Now in its ninth year, the awards have grown from recognising only bloggers to covering a wide range of online creators, including podcasters and influencers on platforms like TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Spotify, and YouTube.

Submissions will be accepted in 23 categories. Creators can only be nominated in one category, except those in the New Creator category, which is open to people who began publishing between January and December 2024.

A judging panel will shortlist five nominees per category in October, and public voting will be held in November. The winners will be announced on December 6.

The BAKE Awards started in 2012, when blogging was the dominant form of digital publishing in Kenya. The expansion into other platforms reflects how content creation has shifted, especially with the rise of short videos and podcasts.
