Yesterday, Samsung announced its new foldable devices: the Fold6 and Flip6. The devices, which, as their names suggest, are in their sixth iteration, look like the Fold5 and Flip6, but that is not bad. The South Korean phone maker has managed to integrate key upgrades into the devices, and one can argue that the design has matured (probably why it hasn’t changed as much).
Galaxy Z Fold6

We got a chance to play with the phones, which are as good as you can imagine. As expected, the Fold6 has an expansive inner display; the secondary display has also grown wider, which many people have been asking for. It is also lighter for a foldable and weighs only 7 grams over the S24 Ultra.
Samsung also says it has upgraded the hinge, which feels sturdier and solid. The device has five cameras in total, but they haven’t received much in terms of hardware upgrades: a 50 MP main camera, a 10 MP telephoto and a 12 MP sensor for ultrawide shots.
The battery is also the same at 4400 mAh, and supports only 25W.
The device will be available locally soon for KES 264,000, which is lower than the starting price of the Fold5, which was launched at over KES 300,000.
Galaxy Z Flip6

Samsung said the Flip6 is slimmer and lighter than its predecessor, but its biggest upgrades are perhaps in the camera department. It now has a 50MP main sensor and a 12 MP ultrawide.
It also ships with more RAM now at 12 GB, up from 8 GB. It also has a decent 4000 mAh battery, up from 3700 mAh on the Flip5.
Price will start at KES 148,000 in Kenya.
Both devices ship with Android 14, and One UI 6.1.1. and will receive updates until 2031.
We will soon test the device thoroughly. Be on the lookout for that.
