Bolt is now available in Egypt

Bolt

Bolt, an Estonian mobility platform with a wide presence in Africa, has launched in Cairo, Egypt, marking an expansion into North Africa.

Bolt’s move signals a strategic plan to capture a significant market share in North Africa’s growing economy. Leveraging its platform, Bolt is launching with a 50% discount for riders and is returning a portion of its commission to drivers. This aims to attract both drivers and passengers.

Bolt’s entry underscores its commitment to improving mobility in the region. Bolt aims to provide Egyptians with convenient, reliable, and safe transportation options by offering ride-hailing services.

Bolt is committed to offering a safe mobility experience and is introducing various safety measures and features designed to protect riders and drivers. These include:

SOS button: allows riders and drivers to contact the police.
Share my ride: allows riders and drivers to share a link with their real-time journey information.
In-app calls: in-app calls and messaging are available so phone numbers are not disclosed.
Driver unmatching: if a rider or driver rates their trip poorly, they will be automatically unmatched.

Once a driver accepts the ride, customers can see their driver’s details and track the driver in real time. When the ride is complete, payment is made in cash. Bolt also aims to bring in-app payment soon.
