M-PAYA Energy selects Servercore for cloud migration

M-PAYA Energy, which offers prepaid utility submetering to landlords and property developers in Kenya, migrated its core business systems to Servercore’s local cloud infrastructure.

M-PAYA Energy, a Kenyan provider of prepaid smart metering for electricity and water, has partnered with Servercore, a global IT infrastructure and cloud solutions provider.

M-PAYA Energy, which offers prepaid utility submetering to landlords and property developers in Kenya, migrated its core business systems to Servercore’s local cloud infrastructure.

The migration of M-PAYA’s essential business systems—including client management, payment processing, and meter management applications—to Servercore is intended to improve system responsiveness and provide real-time billing transparency to customers. M-PAYA’s meters address issues like unfair billing and unpaid utility costs for property owners.

M-PAYA CEO Mwai Mworia stated that the move was critical in deploying a new utility billing and energy management system for scalable infrastructure.

“The ability to self-service stood out for us with Servercore… The main driver for us was flexibility and scalability,” said Mworia, noting that the new environment allows the company to add resources without relying on support interventions.

Mworia also cited improved performance for back-office teams and users and predictable billing and fair pricing as benefits over previous cloud solutions.

The partnership enables M-PAYA Energy to support its growing customer base and supports its plan to expand its presence across East Africa. Servercore’s Head of Business Development, Victoria Kleinbort, noted that the goal is to “empower forward-thinking companies like M-PAYA with the digital infrastructure they need to scale.”
